Yarrow *NEW*

£3.00

Achillea millefolium - approx. 500 seeds

A fully hardy perennial native to the UK, known for its fine, feathery foliage and clusters of small white flowers. Plants typically reach around 60 cm in height. Yarrow is excellent for cutting, drying, wildlife, tea and herbal first aid.

Yarrow has a long history of medicinal use. The name Achillea refers to the Greek hero Achilles, who was said to use yarrow to treat the wounds of soldiers. Similar uses are reflected in the Gaelic names such as lus chasgadh na fala “the plant that staunches bleeding” and lus na fola “blood weed”. Reference: T. Darwin, The Scots Herbal, 1996.

Growing Info.

Sow indoors in trays in early spring, or sow direct once the risk of frost has passed. Scatter seeds on the surface and press into the soil; do not cover with soil as the seed requires light to germinate.

In order to encourage continual flowering, deadhead flowers regularly. Yarrow will readily self seed so deadheading will prevent it from spreading around your garden. Careful when opening - small seeds
