Kale - Pentland Brigg *NEW*
Brassica oleracea ~ 100 seeds.
Bred in the 1960s at the Scottish Plant Breeding Station (now the James Hutton Institute) by Ian McNaughton, Pentland Brig is the result of a cross between Thousand-Head kale and Curly kale.
Very hardy and prolific, it produces abundant light green, curly leaves with a naturally sweet flavour. Plants grow to around 90 cm tall and develop tasty sideshoots in spring, that can be enjoyed like sprouting broccoli.
Growing Info
Sow from March to July. Transplant 3-4 weeks later. Pentland Brig kale grows very well overwinter without protection and survives best when sown in June or early July.
