Seeds of Scotland
Lettuce - Grenoble Rouge *NEW 2024/25*
Lactuca sativa - approximately 200 seeds.
A French alpine lettuce from Grenoble, known as a great overwintering variety but also grows very well for us throughout the summer. This slow to bolt batavian type lettuce forms loose heads of green lightly frilled leaves with red tinged edges. A firm favourite of ours due to its versatility and dependability.
Growing Info
Sow in modules indoors from Feb/Mar for planting out 4/5 weeks later. Direct sow or continue to sow in modules from April onwards. Some protection in the form of a cloche or fleece will be beneficial for young transplants if planted out early in the year when the weather is cooler. Continue to successionally sow until September (for an overwintering crop).
Spacing: for heads: 20/30cm, baby leaves: 5/10cm
