Lettuce - Hyper Red Rumpled Waved *NEW 2024/25*
Lactuca sativa - approximately 200 seeds.
Dark burgundy red /purple leaf lettuce with deeply waved leaves, great for holding onto your salad dressing. Cut and come again as a loose-leaf lettuce or harvest as whole-heads. The deep red pigment, known as the antioxidant anthocyanin means this lettuce is resilient in cold and wet conditions, a great choice for Scotland.
Bred by Frank Morton of 'Wild Garden Seeds' in Oregon USA, this is an OSSI (Open Source Seed Initiative) Pledged Variety. OSSI is working to maintain fair and open access to plant genetic diversity worldwide and ensuring freedom to use these resources for farmers, gardeners, breeders, and communities of this and future generations.

Growing Info
Sow in modules indoors from Feb/Mar for planting out 4/5 weeks later. Direct sow or continue to sow in modules from April onwards. Some protection in the form of a cloche or fleece will be beneficial for young transplants if planted out early in the year when there is still a high risk of frost. Continue to successionally sow until September (for an overwintering crop).
Spacing: for heads: 20/30cm, baby leaves: 5/10cm
